Understanding Payments and Merchant of Record

It's important to understand how payments work on Beffer and who is responsible for what.

Merchant of Record

Beffer acts as a payment facilitator via Stripe Connect. The supplier sets the price and payment terms. Beffer processes the payment on the supplier's behalf. The commercial relationship is between the buyer and the supplier.

• Your contract, invoice, and warranty are with the supplier
• The supplier is responsible for product quality and delivery
• For disputes, Beffer mediates between buyer and supplier
• Beffer facilitates payment processing only

How Payments Work

Beffer uses Stripe Connect to process payments securely:

1. You choose a supplier and accept their quote
2. Payment is processed through Stripe (we never store your card details)
3. Funds are routed to the supplier via Stripe Connect
4. Supplier receives payment minus the platform fee

Payment Phases

Depending on the supplier's terms, payments may be structured as full upfront (pro forma), deposit and balance, staged milestone payments, or payment on account (Net 30/60/90).

Platform Fees

Beffer charges suppliers a platform fee for connecting them with verified buyers, secure payment processing, dispute resolution support, and platform access. The fee is not added to the buyer's price.

When you pay through Beffer, you get secure payment processing (PCI DSS compliant via Stripe), dispute resolution support, quality assurance from verified suppliers, and transparent pricing and terms.
